At the summit "Vision and strategies for breakthrough development in the context of the 4th industrial revolution," Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc likened the revolution to a train.
An Phat Group (Nam Sach) has spent on automatic machines for efficient production
Over the past time, Hai Duong business community has been trying to overcome challenges and seize opportunities to board the "train" on time.
Businesses invest in new technology
Despite the drizzle and wind outside, Luong Duc Hanh, director of Xuyen Viet Production and Trade JSC. (Gia Loc), was not impatient at all because parameters which were automatically and continuously sent to his phone let he know that at that time, his ponds were warm enough for the freshly-bred tilapia to develop well and safely.
"Many relatives of mine feared that I would have to endure hardships when becoming a farmer, but that was then. Farming in a technological age is much more leisured and effective," said Hanh.
To prove his words, Hanh showed me how to read such parameters as temperature, oxygen, and pH in the water and told me when they were at an unsafe level, he would be automatically informed by phone. At that time, he would know what should be done to protect the fish.
The software was bought from Israel several months ago. The new technology allows his company's engineers to check the parameters in the fish ponds from anywhere.
Many people once thought that they should instantaneously join in the 4th industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) like replacing human with robots in production.
However, in fact, to get access to this revolution, at first, enterprises only need to know how to apply information technology on the internet platform to serve production, business, and administration.
Each company has different ways to catch the "4.0 train." The doors of that train are open to all businesses.
Modern technology in the 4.0 age has enabled many enterprises in the province to save time and costs and improve productivity and product quality.
Regent Garment Factory Ltd. (Lai Vu industrial zone, Kim Thanh) has a great demand for labor while supply is limited. Therefore, the business owner must take the initiative in introducing automatic technology to production.
"Industry 4.0 will bring great benefits if enterprises know how to grasp and use it effectively. Hence, over the past time, my company has applied automatic sewing and printing technology, helping to ease the pressure of labor shortage and save production time and operating costs, thereby decreasing prices but increasing the competitiveness of products," said Le Hong Quan, deputy director-general of the company.
Tran Duc Vu, director of Duc Minh Investment and Printing Technology JSC. (Hai Duong city), gave an example: E-bills, digital signatures, transactions with customers via social networking sites, etc. are also ways for businesses to come closer to Industry 4.0.
Many major enterprises in the province have taken the lead and initiative in researching and seeking advantages from the revolution for development.
Hai Duong Pump Manufacturing JSC. (Hai Duong city) has invested in a 4.0 scientific laboratory for its engineers and workers to research and apply technological and automatic initiatives and innovations to production.
An Phat Group (Nam Sach) has spent hundreds of billions of dong in buying automatic equipment and machinery for production.
Many people will be startled and worried about being unemployed because of robots one day not too far off because robots need neither weekends nor travel for relaxation. They can work hard day and night without needing reminders or check.
If businesses still rely on the advantage of cheap labor, it will be difficult for them to survive in the future. This is the warning of many experts. And to date, it has come true in some places.
During many dialogues and meetings with businesses in the province, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Manh Hien kept reminding them to quickly adapt to Industry 4.0 and required the provincial departments, boards, and branches to improve, take the lead, and work out positive measures to approach this new revolution.
An e-government model, therefore, is being actively implemented by the provincial authorities. At many departments and branches in the province, online processing of administrative procedures is being carried out efficiently.
There have been a lot of Hai Duong-based businesses boldly leading the way and readily catching the "4.0 train."
However, in fact, most enterprises have still passively and slowly renewed themselves for adaption.
Without careful preparation, enterprises are easily left behind.
Thus, at the very moment, businesses in the province are in urgent need of motivation to quickly and proactively receive the impacts of Industry 4.0 and, at the same time, an innovative and creative emulation movement to take "physical exercise," be self-confident, and readily get on the very near "4.0 train."
