The Department of Transport has proposed the construction of a flyover above a median opening on national highway 5 in Cong Hoa commune (Kim Thanh), where a recent serious accident caused five deaths

After reviewing inadequacies on national highway 5, the Department of Transport has proposed the Provincial People's Committee to ask the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam to build eight flyovers across the route in the province.

The department suggested the construction of a flyover above a median opening in the middle of Mau Tai hamlet in Cam Dien commune, Cam Giang district.

In Kim Thanh district, four flyovers were proposed to be built above median openings at intersections with roads to Minh Thanh hamlet in Lai Vu commune and Thanh Lien and Lang Khe hamlets in Cong Hoa commune, in Co Dung commune, and at the intersection with the road to Quynh Khe industrial cluster in Kim Xuyen commune.

The department suggested the construction of three flyovers in Hai Duong city, one above the median opening at the intersection with Ngo Quyen street, one above the intersection with the road to Ai Quoc ward, and a light one to Thanh Nien street.

Earlier, the Department of Transport coordinated with the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam to review inadequacies on over 44 km of national highway 5 in Hai Duong.

Around the openings above which the flyovers were asked to be built are mostly densely populated areas. There, traffic jams may occur when cars turn around, the road bed is appropriated to sell goods, and many vehicles wait to cross the highway.

At many openings, there is much difference in height between two ways of national highway 5 with limited visibility; therefore, serious traffic accidents have happened or may happen.
