The creation of closed linkage chains from production to supply is a sustainably inevitable direction.
There are many clean and safe food and farm produce stores in the province. Products on sale there have a clear origin and committed quality. However, these shops are often small and were opened by a business or a cooperative.
Last April, the first model of Cocofood Agricultural Product Chain Linkage Cooperative (Cocofood Cooperative) appeared in the province.
This is a cooperative specializing in agriculture and linkage among agricultural businesses and cooperatives in Hai Duong and other provinces and cities to produce and provide agricultural products for people on a large scale with methodical and sustainable development strategies.
To date, 10 agricultural businesses and cooperatives in Hai Duong and dozens of businesses and cooperatives in other provinces and cities have participated in Cocofood agricultural product linkage chain.
The members of the linkage chain are businesses and cooperatives producing and processing strong agricultural products of Hai Duong and other provinces and cities.
To join in the supply chain, businesses and cooperatives must satisfy criteria of product quality, food safety, and especially product information transparency through traceability.
"To sustainably develop agriculture, each link must be good and connected together to form a complete system. We have proactively associated with each other into a chain to provide products for consumers without intermediaries. The linkage aims to create good products and large-scale production to meet the domestic market and target export," said director of Cocofood Cooperative Mai Xuan Thinh.
Viways Agricultural Product Processing JSC. in Hai Tan ward, Hai Duong city, specializes in poultry breeding and processing. It has a standard model of closed chicken and duck breeding and processing. Viways' chicken products have been certified as safe foodstuffs for consumers by appropriate authorities.
The company proactively took part in Cocofood agricultural product linkage chain shortly after establishment.
Director of the company Nguyen Manh Cuong believed that distribution was only the last stage to bring products onto the market. To form a complete supply chain and ensure the origin and quality of products, breeding, cultivation, preliminary treatment, processing, and packing are indispensable. To ensure the safety and quality of products, these stages must comply with strict control processes.
"Supply chains are the only way to control the quality and origin of products, creating a premise to develop local products and establish brands, improving the value of local products and businesses," said Cuong.

Late last July, Cocofood Cooperative opened the first Cocofood safe agricultural product shop in Hai Duong on Pham Su Menh street, Hai Duong city. The shop only sells vegetables, tubers, fruits, meat, fish, eggs, and products made from them.
This is not only a place to sell clean food but also a model of food supply chain linkage ensuring VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and organic products on a large scale.
Cocofood safe agricultural product shop chain has nearly 400 item codes of various kinds, more than 150 of which are key products of agricultural businesses and cooperatives in the province.
At present, Cocofood Cooperative is developing an online selling application to serve consumers' need for home delivery.
As a member of the cooperative, Le Van Viet, Director of Xuyen Viet Aquatic Product Cooperative, said: "We target sustainable agricultural development. To achieve it, member businesses and cooperatives must build a sense of responsibility for community development and always pay attention to improving the value and quality of products, developing local brands, and building their own ones."
As planned, Cocofood Cooperative will develop 3 – 5 shops in Hai Duong and five in Ha Noi from now to the end of the year and 20 in many other provinces and cities in 2021.
In the first five years of development, the cooperative will build and complete a value chain from production to supply on a national scale, extend Cocofood shops throughout the country, and target the export of standard farm produce.
Working in the health sector, so Nguyen Thi Hue on Truong My street, Hai Duong city, often buys food at clean food shops. According to Hue, food safety is very worrying nowadays.
Consumers care more and more about the health of themselves and their families, so they choose food for each meal very carefully. The formation of linkage chains for supply of clean and safe food with clear origin is an inevitable and sustainable trend.
