A lot of service businesses as well as tourist areas and attractions in Hai Duong province are gradually innovating themselves for adaption.
Many travel lovers said for fear of Covid-19, they tended to go to close and safe tourist destinations to shorten time.
Nguyen Van Phong (44 years old) in Ngoc Chau ward, Hai Duong city, said his family went on long trips every summer. However, this year, because the Covid-19 epidemic has still developed complicatedly, his family's plan has to change.
"My family intends to travel to Ha Long and choose a package tour round the bay on a boat in the near future. This destination is close to home, meeting our travel need and avoiding crowded contact," said Phong.
Many other families said they would also choose to go on a weekend trip to some attractive destinations in Hai Duong or near the province, which, however, must be safe from the epidemic.
The family of Nguyen Thi Hanh (47 years old) in Binh Han ward, Hai Duong city, also has a hobby of traveling.
Because of the epidemic, her family will choose destinations close to home to suit their time and budget. She planned that after her son finished the senior high school graduation exam, the whole family would select a number of tourist attractions in the province to relieve stress.
"I will choose such destinations as Con Son – Kiep Bac, Co island, Cao An Phu temple, or Nham Duong pagoda, which are both safe and economical, meeting my family's need and benefiting the provincial tourism," said Hanh.
Change for adaption
With the above tourism trend, it is clear that there is an opportunity for domestic tourism in challenges. To forestall this new trend, travel businesses are adjusting their strategies, innovating products, and improving service quality.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, there are 14 travel companies in the province.
Hoang Thi Thuy, representative of Viet Flow International Travel Co., Ltd., said domestic tourism, especially weekend one, is the choice of many people. They choose safe and close destinations like Ha Long in Quang Ninh, Sam Son and Pu Luong in Thanh Hoa, Kim Boi and Mai Chau in Hoa Binh, etc.
Travelers mainly are family and small groups and book partial services such as hotel rooms. Especially, they only book services when it is close to the date of departure to avoid risks.
"Our company has studied to adjust and develop short-day tours close to Hai Duong and suitable to tourists' demands and associated with travel companies, hotels, and resorts to have accurate information about prices, services, etc. for consulting and booking for travelers," said Thuy.
To date, nine tourist sites and destinations in the province have been recognized. To adapt to the above trend, some tourist sites and destinations in the province have been gradually being innovated to lure tourists.
For example, apart from renovation of the architecture, landscape, and environment, a display zone for images and antiquities of Kiep Bac temple, a place to enjoy Kiep Bac lotus tea and introduce tourism products of Hai Duong, a check-in point at Kiep Bac lotus lake, etc. have recently been put into operation at Con Son – Kiep Bac relic site with initial effectiveness and high appreciation from visitors.
Nguyen Thi Thuy Lien, Head of the Management Board of Con Son – Kiep Bac Relics, said to attract tourists, the unit had diversified forms of propaganda and improved the quality of services and manpower.
In the coming time, the unit will develop a new product, Con Son chrysanthemum tea, and renovate 3.6 ha landscape in front of the gate of Con Son pagoda.
"To continue synchronously improving tourism products and create an impetus for development, we hope that the provincial authorities will continue to pay attention to improving the traffic infrastructure to Kiep Bac temple and Con Son pagoda and arrange suitable service points and parking-lots," said Lien.
"The culture, sports, and tourism sector will always accompany and share with tourism service businesses in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic. The sector has been jointly instructing enterprises and employees to enjoy support policies of the State, especially the support under Resolution 68/NQ-CP," said Nguyen Thanh Trung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
