International cooperation on wastewater treatment in Dong Can rice vermicelli trade village

A decentralized cooperation agreement has been signed to study the feasibility of building a wastewater treatment system for Dong Can rice vermicelli trade village in Tan Tien commune, Gia Loc district.

The Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee, the Interdepartmental Syndicate for Sanitation of the Paris Region, and the Seine-Saint-Denis Department Council (French Republic) on May 3 morning signed a decentralized cooperation agreement on "Implementing a project to build a wastewater treatment system for Dong Can rice vermicelli trade village in Tan Tien commune, Gia Loc district, Hai Duong province - Feasibility study phase."

Vice Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee Luong Van Cau and Mr. Belaide Bedredine, Vice President of the Seine-Saint-Denis Department Council cum Chairman of the Interdepartmental Syndicate for Sanitation of the Paris Region, presided over the signing ceremony.

The project aims to make a master plan for drainage and wastewater treatment in Dong Can village, choose techniques to completely or partially remove pollution caused by wastewater in the village through a solution most appropriate to the local conditions and the local authorities' management capacity, etc.

The maximum direct funds for feasibility study amount to EUR34,000, including EUR4,000 in reciprocal capital from the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee.

The maximum duration of the study is 12 months.

There are 260 households in Dong Can rice vermicelli trade village, including 60 households producing rice vermicelli and hundreds of families raising pigs.

Traditional production activities have seriously polluted the environment, especially water environment.

Many environmental improvement measures have been proposed but not yet yielded marked results.
