During the reign of King Tran Minh Tong, Chu Van An was invited to be a Quoc Tu Giam Private Teacher, teaching the Princes and helping the King and the country. During the reign of King Tran Du Tong, the Court was disarrayed, and the King and the mandarins were depraved, not interested in the work of the Court. Chu Van An offered "Beheading Petition" to behead 7 flatterers in order to keep the Court in peace. His advice to the King was unsuccessful, he resigned to live as a recluse at Phuong Hoang mountain, teaching, composing poems, writing books, and finding medicine for the people. In 1370, he died here.
In November 2019, UNESCO honored Teacher Chu Van An and issued a resolution to work together with Vietnam in carrying out activities to commemorate the 650th anniversary of his death.
