Thoroughly addressing workers' petitions

Heads of agencies and units are responsible to well perform their duties to not only hear and acknowledge but also take specific action to thoroughly address the petitions.

The Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Duong province held a dialogue between the provincial leaders and employees and business owners in the province at the Labor Culture House on September 16 morning.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; and Mr. Nguyen Duong Thai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies, presided over the meeting.

Also in attendance were Mr. Tran Van Thuat, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich,  Member of the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Board, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Anh Cuong, Member of the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Board, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the provincial departments, boards, and branches; and 250 employees and business owners representing employees and active enterprises in the province.

In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien stressed that the dialogue was an opportunity for the provincial leaders to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the employees and business owners.

This was also a chance for the employees and business owners to express the difficulties and obstacles they were facing.

The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee required relevant departments and branches to directly answer questions without prevarication and avoidance; acknowledge and pledge to answer issues needing further consideration as soon as possible.

Following the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee's direction, the dialogue took place openly and ebulliently. Lack of housing, inadequacies in the implementation of salary policies, insurance regimes, etc. were most interested in and mentioned at the dialogue.

Nearly half of 21 opinions raised at the event were concerned with housing for workers. Social insurance-related issues were also mentioned by a lot of workers and responded to by relevant units.

At the meeting, the workers also stated insecurity, disorder, and unsafe traffic on roads near industrial parks. There were inadequacies in labor agreements as well as improper attention of enterprises to workers' lives.

Hearing the employees' opinions, the provincial leaders shared their difficulties.

Mr. Nguyen Duong Thai affirmed that all questions would be answered satisfactorily by the provincial leaders as well as relevant departments, boards, branches, and units.

He also asked organizations and unions in the province to listen to the proposals of the workers and business owners to promptly remove their obstacles.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien specified that the obstacles raised by the enterprises and workers should be removed immediately.

The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee assigned the Provincial People's Committee to consider and survey favorable locations to build houses for workers and required local leaders to check unfilled industrial parks to study house construction for workers to help them live and work in peace and contentment.

The provincial authorities will base themselves on the proposals and commitments of relevant departments, boards, and branches to deal with the proposals to assess emulation.

The commitments of agencies, units, and local authorities to address the proposals of the employees and enterprises will be publicized on the mass media.
