The Hai Duong Department of Science and Technology on October 10 morning inspected the topic "Real situation and proposal of measures to improve the efficiency of solid waste management in Hai Duong provincial industrial zones" chaired by PhD Pham Minh Phuong, Head of the Provincial Industrial Zones Authority.

In two years of the topic implementation, 166 enterprises and 33 establishments collecting, transporting, and treating solid waste in industrial zones in the province were surveyed.

2016 survey data showed that the industrial zones generated 145 tons of solid waste/ day, accounting for 10.2% of the total solid waste in the province.

The majority of the businesses neither chose nor contracted with qualified and capable units collecting, transporting, and treating solid waste.

The speciality of environmental managers was not suitable. There were many limitations in supervising solid waste treatment...

The topic executive board proposed a number of measures, such as planning of waste treatment plants with sufficient capacity; encouragement, assistance, and investment in solid waste treatment projects; further improvement of the professional competence of solid waste managers; review of inappropriate normative documents for promulgation of new ones; etc.

The Inspection Council rated the topic fairly good.
