Recently, Hai Duong authorities have been focusing on investing in many important traffic projects.
Many traffic projects connecting regions have been completed, contributing to promoting the provincial economic development. In the photo: Quang Thanh bridge and its approach were inaugurated and put into use in July 2021
The development of traffic infrastructure will help unleash resources and bring into full play the province's potential and advantages.
Many important traffic projects
Apart from interior traffic projects with high connectivity such as the North – South road, a road connecting Han bridge and national highway 37, the 62 m extended road to an interchange of Ha Noi – Hai Phong expressway, and May bridge, there are exterior ones linking Hai Duong with neighboring provinces, creating a foundation for regional economic development.
Typical examples are projects to build Trieu bridge and a road connecting national highway 18 in Quang Ninh's Dong Trieu provincial town with provincial road 398B in Kinh Mon provincial town; Dinh bridge linking national highway 17B, provincial road 389 in Kinh Mon, and provincial road 352 in Hai Phong's Thuy Nguyen district; Quang Thanh bridge connecting provincial road 390 in Thanh Ha district with provincial road 360 in Hai Phong's An Lao district; etc.
The 17th provincial Party Congress's resolution defines the mobilization of resources to develop synchronous and modern infrastructure with priority given to building key traffic works, digital infrastructure, smart urban areas, and model new-style rural areas as a breakthrough stage.
The provincial authorities have continued to advocate investment in many traffic projects.
Decided at the end of 2020, the province's East –West road project is being implemented by the provincial Construction and Investment Project Management Board.
The road, more than 36 km long, will go through Thanh Mien, Ninh Giang, and Tu Ky districts. It will connect such main roads as Ha Noi – Hai Phong and Cau Gie – Ninh Binh expressways, national highways 38B, 37, and 10, the provincial North – South road, and many provincial roads of Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, etc.
One of important traffic projects under investment this time is a project to build the North – South road of Thanh Mien district.
Phase 1 of the project with a length of about 6 km and a total investment of nearly VND400 billion has been approved by the provincial People's Council.
Upon completion, the road will link the provincial East –West road, provincial road 392, and Ha Noi – Hai Phong expressway, forming a main axis connecting Binh Giang, Thanh Mien, Ninh Giang, and Tu Ky districts and traffic between Hai Duong and Hung Yen provinces.
The road will create a new development space helping exploit land on both sides of the route, reduce load on the current regional traffic network, and motivate socio-economic development in Thanh Mien and Binh Giang districts in particular and the province in general.
In the time to come, the provincial authorities will also construct a bypass for provincial road 398B from national highway 18 to Ben Tam lake.
The route plays a very important role in the development of Chi Linh city since provincial road 398B connecting national highway 18 with Thanh Mai pagoda in Chi Linh is small and difficult for upgrading and enlargement. Meanwhile, many investors are interested in building resorts around Ben Tam lake.
Connection to create momentum for breakthrough
Resolutions on investment and adjustment of investment in 18 works and projects from the medium-term public investment source for the 2021 – 2025 period, including eight traffic infrastructure projects and works, were adopted at the 2nd session of the 17th provincial People's Council for the 2021 – 2026 tenure last July.
As the investor, the provincial Construction and Investment Project Management Board has been actively preparing steps to carry out many projects, working out and counseling the provincial authorities to issue plans to implement the projects as scheduled, and closely coordinating with relevant units to put all efforts to accelerate synchronous implementation of steps.
In recent years, Thanh Mien district has developed with a new look. In the future, many important traffic infrastructure projects such as North-South and East-West roads and the ring road of Thanh Mien will contribute to the district's economic development.
According to Secretary of the district Party Committee Dong Dung Manh, over the past years, the district's industry has developed, which, however, is not commensurate with its potential. Traffic works to cross the district in the near future will contribute to promoting the local economic development.
"In the coming time, Thanh Mien will focus on sustainable industrial development and take full advantage of the new traffic system," said the Secretary of the district Party Committee.
"In the process of district planning, the local authorities adjusted and updated themselves on projects and works according to the development orientation of the province and the district.
"The highlight of the plan is priority given to the exploitation of the existing land to lure investment and develop industry."
Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Le Hong Dien affirmed that traffic infrastructure plays a particularly important role in investment attraction and socio-economic development of each locality.
To unleash resources for socio-economic development, planning is very important and, together with investment in traffic infrastructure, must go one step ahead.
Over the past time, the provincial authorities have attached special importance to developing traffic infrastructure in the whole province, focusing on investment in traffic works in key areas and the provincial industrial development. This will create a premise for Hai Duong to make a breakthrough in the future.
