This is the first year Hai Duong has ranked 3rd nationwide in the number of prizes in the national excellent high school student contest.
Two students of Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, second prize winners in maths, were selected for the second examination round to choose national team members to take part in regional and international Olympiads
Overcoming difficulties with all three recent school years affected by Covid-19, in the 2021 – 2022 school year, the provincial excellent student team has continued to reap success and affirm the quality of Hai Duong’s spearhead education.
With 82 prize winners in the national excellent high school student contest for the 2021 – 2022 school year, including two first prizes in literature and English, 27 second prizes, 20 third prizes, and 33 consolation prizes, Hai Duong ranked 3rd nationwide in the number of prizes.
The province had one more prize and climbed two places compared to 2021, 14 more prizes and five places compared to 2020.
This is also the first time Hai Duong has had the largest number of students participating in the contest with 101 students, an increase of 2 students compared to 2021 and 2020. All of them are students of Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted.
Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted also took the lead in the country in the number of prize winners. In recent years, the school has always been one of five schools for the gifted having the largest numbers of prize winners in the country.
The quality of prizes in some subjects also changed markedly. It is noteworthy that out of four first prizes in literature nationwide, Hai Duong possessed one. All members of the English team participating in the contest grabbed prizes thanks to considerable effort because it was very difficult to compete with big cities and provinces with good background in English. In addition, after eight years, the province once again had prizes in physics.
Among the 82 prize winners of Hai Duong, three qualified for the second examination round to choose national team members to take part in regional and international Olympiads in 2022. Teachers and the students are actively revising lessons to be selected for national teams to partake regional and international competitions.
